It depends almost entirely on scope, and the honest answer is that anyone quoting before understanding your requirements is guessing. The things that move cost most are integrations with other systems, custom functionality that does not exist off the shelf, and how much of the logic has to handle exceptions. We write a scope first and quote against it, with the assumptions listed so you can compare fairly.

Anything with integrations, custom functionality or e-commerce logic runs longer, and we will say so at scoping rather than discovering it halfway through. The most common cause of overrun is not development speed — it is decisions and content waiting on the client side.
Yes, and we will review it before quoting. Sometimes inherited code is sound and just needs maintenance and documentation. Sometimes it is cheaper to rebuild than to keep patching. We will tell you which, and show you the reasoning, even when the honest answer is the smaller job.
Because you can hire for it. A bespoke framework means every future change has to come back to whoever wrote it — which is good for the agency and bad for you. WordPress gives you a large pool of developers, an ecosystem, and the ability to leave. Where a project genuinely needs something else, we will say so.

Yes. We have offices in Edmonton and Calgary and work across Alberta. Development work is largely remote regardless — but having a team in the same time zone, reachable by phone, matters more than most people expect when something needs a decision quickly.
