Quick answer

Does social media actually bring local businesses customers?

It does, but rarely in the way people expect. Social is weak at capturing people who are ready to buy right now — that is what search does. It is strong at three other things: being remembered before the need arises, proving you are real when someone checks you out after a referral, and re-reaching people who visited your website and did not enquire.

Judged as a direct-response channel against search ads, social usually looks poor. Judged on its actual jobs — recall, credibility and remarketing — it earns its place. We set the expectation before we take the budget.

Why social budgets get wasted

Three ways Alberta businesses waste money on social

These are the patterns we see most often when we take over an account.

01

Posting to an audience that will never buy

Follower counts inflated by giveaways and out-of-province accounts look good on a report and book nothing. We would rather have four hundred local followers who might hire you than four thousand who cannot.

02

Boosting posts instead of running campaigns

The boost button is the most expensive way to buy reach on Meta. It gives you almost no targeting control, no proper conversion optimisation and no useful reporting. Proper campaigns cost less per lead and tell you where the leads came from.

03

No remarketing pixel, so the warm audience is lost

The people most likely to convert are the ones who already visited your website. Without a pixel collecting that audience from day one, you are paying full price to reach strangers while your warmest prospects forget about you.

What we run

Social media marketing services

Content, ads and community management — with the tracking to show what any of it produced.

Organic content and scheduling

A realistic posting plan built around what your business actually does, shot and written to look like you rather than a stock library.

Paid social campaigns

Meta, Instagram and LinkedIn campaigns with proper audience targeting and conversion optimisation — not boosted posts.

Local audience targeting

Geographic and interest targeting built around your actual service area, so budget is not spent reaching people you cannot serve.

Remarketing

Reaching website visitors who did not enquire, at a fraction of the cost of a cold audience.

Reviews and social proof

Turning real client feedback into content, within the advertising rules that apply to your profession.

Reporting on leads, not likes

Tracked enquiries by platform and campaign, with cost per lead — the number that decides next month’s budget.

Social media questions Alberta businesses ask

How much does social media management cost?

It depends on how much content you need produced and whether ad management is included — those are the two variables that move the number most. A posting-only arrangement costs considerably less than one that includes photography, video and paid campaigns. We scope it against what you actually need and put the assumptions in writing, and ad budget is always quoted separately from our fee.

Which platform should my business be on?

Fewer than you think. For most Alberta trades and clinics, one platform done properly beats five done badly — usually Facebook and Instagram together, because that is where the local audience and the ad tooling are. LinkedIn matters if you sell to other businesses. TikTok and X rarely earn their time for a local service business, and we will say so rather than bill for them.

How often should we post?

Two to three times a week, consistently, is plenty for most local businesses — and far more sustainable than daily posting that stops after six weeks. Frequency matters less than whether the content is recognisably yours and gives someone a reason to remember you.

Can social media replace Google Ads?

No, and it is not trying to. Search reaches people who have already decided they need what you sell; social reaches people before that point. If you only have budget for one and you sell an urgent service, start with search. Social makes most sense layered on top, especially for remarketing.

Do you make the videos and photos?

We can, and for most businesses it is the difference between content that works and content that gets scrolled past. We also work with what you already have if budget is tight. What we will not do is fill your feed with stock images that could belong to any company in the country.

Who owns the accounts and the content?

You do. We work inside your business accounts with you as owner, and everything we produce is yours to keep. If we part ways, the pages, the audiences and the content history stay with you.

How do you measure whether social is working?

Tracked enquiries and cost per enquiry by platform, not reach or engagement. Engagement is a leading indicator worth watching, but it does not pay wages. We report the leads first and the vanity metrics underneath, and if a platform is not producing after a fair run we will recommend cutting it.

Do you work with businesses outside Edmonton?

Yes. We have offices in Edmonton and Calgary and run social for businesses across Alberta, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Red Deer, Airdrie and Camrose.
