Straight answer

What does salon marketing involve?

Salon and barbershop demand is local, visual and habit-forming. Someone searches "barber near me" or "balayage Edmonton", looks at photos and reviews, and books whoever has availability. The economics only work if that person comes back, so salon marketing is half acquisition and half rebooking.

In practice: a complete Google Business Profile, service pages for the treatments you want more of, real portfolio photography, reviews, and online booking with live availability.

Why it matters

Three things that cost Alberta salons bookings

None of these are exotic. We find them on almost every salon we audit.

01

All effort goes into Instagram

Social is where existing clients watch you. Search is where new clients find you. A salon with 8,000 followers and no map pack ranking is invisible to the person who just moved into the neighbourhood.

02

No page for the money services

Balayage, extensions, colour correction, keratin, fades and beard work are separate searches at very different price points. If they are a price list rather than pages, you rank for none of them.

03

Booking is not online

A meaningful share of bookings happen outside business hours. If the only option is to phone or send a DM, those people book the salon with a live calendar instead.

What we do

Salon and barbershop marketing services for Edmonton and Calgary

Pick the parts you need. Most salons start with local search and online booking.

Local SEO and map ranking

Google Business Profile build-out, a page per service, citation cleanup and the on-page work that gets you into the top three for "salon near me" and "barber near me" across your catchment.

Service pages for high-value treatments

Balayage, colour correction, extensions, keratin, bridal, fades and beard grooming, each written for how people search for that specific service.

Portfolio and photography

Real work on real clients, organised by service. In a visual category this decides the shortlist more than any copy does.

Review generation

An automated request after each appointment through LinkBuffer Cloud, so review volume and recency keep climbing. Never gated — every client gets asked.

Online booking and rebooking

Live availability on the site, plus automated rebooking reminders at the right interval for each service.

Reporting you can act on

Bookings by source and by service, plus rebooking rate. One page, monthly, with what we changed and what it did.

People also ask

Salon and barbershop marketing questions Alberta owners ask

Is Instagram enough to market a salon?

No. Social keeps existing clients engaged and shows off the work, but new clients overwhelmingly come from local search. A salon that is strong on Instagram and absent from the map pack is invisible to anyone who does not already follow it.

How do salons rank higher on Google Maps?

Complete the Google Business Profile with every service listed, keep hours accurate, post photos regularly, and build recent reviews. Then add a page on your site for each high-value service so you rank for those searches too, not just the generic one.

Do we need service pages if we have a price list?

Yes, if you want to be found. A price list is a table; a service page can rank. "Balayage Edmonton" is a real search with real volume and a price-list row does not compete for it.

How do we get more clients to rebook?

Ask at the chair, and back it with an automated reminder at the interval that service actually needs. Rebooking rate is the number most worth improving in a salon, because the client is already acquired and already happy.

How many reviews does a salon need?

Enough to be competitive with the salons ranking above you, and recent enough to look busy. Reviews that name the stylist and the service carry extra weight, and they help individual stylists build their own books.

Is Google Ads worth it for a salon?

Occasionally — for a new location with no ranking, or to fill a specific gap. For an established salon with map pack visibility, the money is usually better spent on photography and rebooking.

How long does it take to see results?

Local rankings typically start shifting in two to three months, with booking volume changing more often in the three to six month range. Rebooking automation is faster than that.

Do you work with salons outside Edmonton and Calgary?

Yes. We work with businesses across Alberta from our two offices, and the local search work is the same in any town. Smaller markets are often easier to rank in.
