Reputation Management In Edmonton — More Real Reviews, Handled Properly

Reviews decide who gets called first in the map pack. We build the system that asks every customer, routes the feedback, and helps you respond — without ever filtering who gets asked.

Quick answer

How do reviews affect local search rankings?

Google has confirmed that review count, review score and review text all contribute to how businesses are ranked in local results. They also affect the click: two businesses side by side in the map pack rarely split traffic evenly when one has 12 reviews and the other has 180.

The lever you control is volume and recency — asking every customer, consistently, and replying to what comes back. What you cannot control, and should not try to, is which customers get asked. Screening for happy customers first breaches Google’s policies and risks the profile that the rest of your local visibility sits on.

Why review counts stall

Three reasons your review count is not growing

Almost every business we start with is losing reviews to one of these.

01

Nobody asks, or only the front desk remembers to

Review generation that depends on a person remembering at the end of a busy day produces a trickle. Automating the ask — triggered by the appointment or the invoice — is the single change that moves review volume most.

02

The ask makes it hard to leave one

Sending someone to your homepage and hoping they find the review link loses most people. The request needs to land as a text with a link that opens straight to the review box, on the phone they are already holding.

03

Negative reviews go unanswered

An unanswered complaint is read by every future customer as agreement. A calm, specific reply — not a defensive one — is often more persuasive to the next reader than the original review was damaging.

What we build

Reputation management services

A system that runs without anyone remembering to run it.

Automated review requests

SMS and email requests triggered by a completed appointment or invoice, sent to every customer, with a direct link to the review box.

NFC review cards in-clinic

Physical tap cards for the front desk so customers can leave a review before they have left the building.

Response drafting

Replies to positive and negative reviews, written to be read by the next prospective customer rather than to win an argument.

Google Business Profile management

Categories, services, hours, photos and posts kept current — the profile itself is a ranking factor, not just a listing.

Monitoring and alerts

You hear about a new review from us, not from a customer mentioning it three weeks later.

Reporting

Review volume, average score and where you sit against local competitors, month by month.

How we start

Benchmark, automate, respond

Timeframes below are typical ranges and depend on how your booking or invoicing system triggers the request.

Benchmark

We record where you stand — review count, score, velocity — against the businesses currently ranking above you in the map pack.

Typically week 1

Automate the ask

Request sequences built and connected to your booking or invoicing system, plus NFC cards for the front desk if useful.

Typically weeks 2–3, scope dependent

Respond and report

Draft responses for every review, monthly reporting on volume and competitive position.

Ongoing, monthly reporting

Reputation questions Alberta businesses ask

How do I get more Google reviews?

Ask every customer, automatically, immediately after the work is done, with a link that opens straight to the review box on their phone. Almost all of the gap between businesses with 20 reviews and businesses with 200 is whether the ask is systematic or left to memory. Reminders help; a second, gentle follow-up a few days later typically adds a meaningful share again.

Can you remove a bad Google review?

Only Google can, and only where the review breaches its policies — spam, off-topic content, conflicts of interest, or a review of a business the person never used. We can flag those and escalate, and it does sometimes work. What nobody can do is remove a genuine negative review from a real customer, and any agency claiming otherwise is selling you something that does not exist. The reliable answer is a good public reply and enough recent positive reviews that one bad one stops being the story.

Will you only ask happy customers for reviews?

No. Screening customers before asking — sending happy ones to Google and unhappy ones to a private form — is called review gating and it breaches Google’s policies. It can get reviews removed and put the profile at risk. We ask everyone. In practice that produces a more credible profile anyway: a perfect five-star record with no critical reviews reads as filtered to most people.

How many reviews do I need to rank in the map pack?

There is no threshold. What matters is where you stand relative to the other businesses competing for the same searches in your area — which differs enormously between a Sherwood Park clinic and a downtown Calgary law firm. We benchmark you against the businesses actually ranking above you and set a target from that, rather than quoting a number.

Should we respond to every review?

Yes, and quickly. Responses are read far more by prospective customers than by the reviewer. For a negative review, reply calmly, acknowledge the specific issue, and move the conversation offline — you are writing for the person reading it six months from now, not to win the exchange.

Can we incentivise reviews?

No. Offering discounts, entries or gifts in exchange for reviews breaches Google’s policies and, for regulated professions in Alberta, may breach your college’s advertising standards as well. It is not worth the risk to a profile your local visibility depends on. Asking properly and asking everyone works better and is not against any rules.

Do reviews on other sites matter?

Google carries the most weight for local search, but industry-specific sites matter for credibility and sometimes appear in search results themselves. We focus effort on Google first, then whichever secondary site your customers actually read.

Do you work with businesses outside Edmonton?

Yes. We have offices in Edmonton and Calgary and work across Alberta, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Red Deer, Airdrie and Camrose.
