Straight answer
Electrical work ranges from a $200 service call to a six-figure commercial contract, and the same search terms bring in both. Someone searches "electrician near me", "panel upgrade Edmonton" or "EV charger installation", looks at the map, and calls one or two. Electrician marketing is the work of ranking for the jobs you want and giving the wrong enquiries somewhere else to go.
In practice: a complete Google Business Profile, a page per service and per service area, review generation, and a site that states clearly what you do and do not take on.
Why it matters
None of these are exotic. We find them on almost every electrical contractor we audit.

What we do
Pick the parts you need. Most contractors start with local search and service pages.
Google Business Profile build-out, a page per service and per service area, citation cleanup and the on-page work that gets you into the top three across your catchment.
Panel upgrades, EV chargers, aluminium wiring remediation, commercial service, new construction — each as its own page, written to attract the jobs you want and set expectations on the ones you do not.
An automated request after each job through LinkBuffer Cloud, so review volume and recency keep climbing. Never gated — every customer gets asked.
A fast site with the phone number fixed to the screen, licence and insurance visible, service areas clear, and a quote form that takes under a minute.
Search campaigns for high-value terms, with negatives that keep you out of DIY, parts, apprenticeship and electrical-engineering searches.
Every call recorded against its source, with missed calls flagged. One page, monthly, with what we changed and what it did.

How it runs
Typical ranges — your business may move faster or slower depending on how much groundwork exists.
We review your profile, rankings across each service area, reviews, site speed and enquiry handling, then sequence the work by what produces booked jobs soonest.

Rank in the top three map results for your main terms in each area you serve, keep reviews recent, and build a page for each service you want volume in. The map pack is where most residential service calls start, and a page per service is what lets you rank for the specific job rather than only "electrician".
Change what your site says. If the only content is "electrical services", every enquiry will be whatever the searcher happened to need. Pages that describe panel upgrades, commercial service and new construction in detail attract those enquiries and quietly discourage the rest.
For most residential contractors, yes. Search volume for EV charger installation has grown steadily in Alberta, the job has decent value, and relatively few contractor sites have a dedicated page — so ranking is easier than for general electrician terms.
If you want to rank in them, yes, and they need real local content rather than one template with the city name changed. Google is good at spotting the latter.
Often, since they appear above the map pack and are priced per lead. They work best alongside organic ranking rather than instead of it.
Enough to be competitive with the companies ranking above you in each area, and recent enough that the newest is weeks old. An automated request after every completed job is the practical way to keep that up.
Local rankings typically start shifting in two to three months, with enquiry volume changing more often in the three to six month range. Competitive city-centre terms take longer than suburban ones.
Yes. We work with businesses across Alberta from our two offices, and the local search work is the same in any town. Smaller markets are often easier to rank in.
