Conversion Rate Optimization — More Leads From The Traffic You Already Have

CRO is the cheapest growth lever most Alberta businesses have not pulled. We find where visitors give up, fix it, and prove the change with data.

Quick answer

What is conversion rate optimization?

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) is the practice of increasing the percentage of website visitors who take the action you want — call, book, fill in a form, or buy — without increasing traffic.

The arithmetic is why it matters. If 1,000 people visit your site each month and 2% enquire, you get 20 leads. Take that to 4% and you get 40 leads from exactly the same traffic and the same ad spend. That is why CRO usually returns faster than buying more clicks: you are not paying for the extra visitors, because there are none.

Where visitors give up

Three places Alberta websites lose the enquiry

When we run a CRO audit, the leak is almost always in one of these three places.

01

The form asks for too much

Every extra field costs you completions. A service business asking for company size, budget range and how the visitor heard about you — before they have even spoken to anyone — is filtering out people who would have been good customers. We cut forms to what you genuinely need to make first contact.

02

Nothing tells the visitor they can trust you

Reviews, real photos of your team, a physical address and a named person all reduce the risk a stranger feels before handing over their phone number. Pages that jump straight from a headline to a form convert worse than pages that earn the click first.

03

The phone number is not tappable on mobile

It sounds trivial. It is not. A large share of local service enquiries are phone calls made from a phone, and a number that is an image or plain text instead of a tap-to-call link quietly loses those people. We test on real devices, not a desktop browser at a narrow width.

What CRO involves

Conversion rate optimization services

Find the leak, fix it, prove the fix worked. Then do it again.

Analytics and funnel review

We find the pages where people arrive and the pages where they leave, then work out which step is doing the damage.

Heatmaps and session recordings

Watching real visitors use your site shows you things analytics never will — like the button everybody tries to tap that is not a button.

Form and checkout optimisation

Field reduction, inline validation, progress indicators and mobile keyboard types. Small changes, measurable effect.

Page speed as a conversion lever

Slow pages lose people before they see the offer. Speed work is often the highest-return CRO change on a mobile-heavy site.

A/B and split testing

Changes go live as tests, not guesses. If the new version does not beat the old one, we say so and revert it.

Call and enquiry tracking

Tracked calls, form fills and chats so you can see which page produced each lead — the only way to know a test actually worked.

How CRO runs

Audit, test, keep what wins

Timeframes below are typical ranges and depend on your traffic volume — lower-traffic sites need longer to reach a reliable result.

Measure and diagnose

Tracking is checked and fixed first, then heatmaps and recordings run until there is enough data to see the pattern.

Typically weeks 1–3

Fix the obvious, test the rest

Clear defects get fixed immediately. Judgement calls go into an A/B test so the decision is made by your visitors, not by opinion.

Typically weeks 3–8, traffic dependent

Report and repeat

Every test is reported with what changed, what it did to conversion rate, and whether we kept it.

Ongoing, monthly reporting

CRO questions Alberta businesses ask

What is a good conversion rate?

It varies so much by industry and traffic source that benchmarks are close to useless for decision-making. A clinic taking branded search traffic might convert at 10% or more; a cold paid-social audience for a considered purchase might convert under 1% and still be profitable. The only comparison that matters is your site against itself last month. We set your baseline first, then measure against it.

How much traffic do I need for CRO to work?

For formal A/B testing you need enough conversions for the result to mean anything — typically a few hundred conversions per variant before the numbers are trustworthy. Below that, we still do CRO, but through fixing clear defects and usability problems rather than split tests. We will tell you honestly which category your site falls into before you pay for anything.

How do you improve a website conversion rate?

In order: fix tracking so you can see the truth, find the step where people leave, remove whatever is causing it, and prove the change with data. Most gains come from unglamorous work — shorter forms, faster pages, clearer next steps, tap-to-call that works. Redesigns are occasionally the answer, but they are the expensive answer and rarely the first one.

Is CRO better value than more advertising?

Usually, if you already have traffic. Doubling your conversion rate has the same effect on leads as doubling your ad spend, but you only pay for it once. If you have very little traffic, the order reverses — there is nothing to optimise yet, and the money is better spent getting visitors first. We will say which situation you are in.

Will you change my website design?

Only where the evidence says to. We are not looking for reasons to rebuild your site — we are looking for the specific things costing you enquiries. Sometimes that is a single form field. If a full redesign genuinely is the answer, we will show you the data behind that recommendation rather than asserting it.

How long before I see results from CRO?

Clear defects — a broken form, an untappable phone number, a page taking eight seconds on mobile — produce results as soon as they are fixed. Tested changes take longer, because the test has to run until the result is reliable. On a typical Alberta service business site, expect the first meaningful, proven gain somewhere in the second or third month.

Do I need CRO if my site is brand new?

A new site should be built with conversion in mind from the start, which is different from running a CRO programme. Once it has been live long enough to gather real data, CRO tells you what your assumptions got wrong. Nobody guesses right on the first build — the site that converts is the one that has been corrected a few times.

Do you work with businesses outside Edmonton?

Yes. We have offices in Edmonton and Calgary and work across Alberta, including St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Red Deer, Airdrie and Camrose. CRO work is done remotely regardless — what matters is access to your analytics, not proximity.
