Construction & Trades Marketing — Alberta

Word Of Mouth Built The Business. It Will Not Fill Next Winter.

Referrals are the best leads you will ever get and the hardest to forecast. When the phone goes quiet in February, there is nothing to turn up. Marketing for a construction company is about having a second source of work that you control.

Where Construction Marketing Goes Wrong

Three Things We Find On Almost Every Contractor Site

None of these are about how the site looks. All three cost quoted jobs every month.

01

A Gallery Instead Of An Argument

Forty photos of finished work and nothing that says what you build, where, for whom, or what a project costs. Homeowners and property managers comparing three contractors need to know if you are even the right size of firm before they call.

02

One Page For Every Trade

Framing, roofing, siding and renovations on a single services page. Someone searching “commercial roofing Edmonton” lands somewhere generic and leaves. Each trade is a different buyer with a different budget and deserves its own page.

03

Enquiries That Sit For Two Days

You are on a site, not at a desk. A form that emails an inbox you check in the evening loses the job to whoever called back first. For trades the response time gap is usually the single biggest leak we find.

A Real Audit, With The Awkward Bits Left In

Two business days. No deck.

We will show you where you rank across Edmonton today for the trades that actually pay, which of your own pages compete with each other, and what it would realistically take to get in front of more of the work you want. If what you are doing now is working, we will say so.

  • Which of your services have no page at all

The Work

What A Month Actually Looks Like

Not a retainer that produces a report. Six things that happen every month.

A Page Per Trade

One strong page for each trade you genuinely do, written for how people search — “metal roofing Edmonton”, “basement development Sherwood Park”. No near-identical town pages, which Google treats as one page and ranks accordingly.

Google Business Profile

Categories chosen against what actually ranks for your trade, service areas set to the ground you really cover, and photos added on a schedule. For a contractor this is where most of the phone calls come from.

Reviews, As A Habit

A request sent when the job is signed off and the client is happiest, rather than months later. Every review answered. For trades, review count and recency move the map pack faster than almost anything else.

Enquiries That Reach You On Site

Calls and forms routed to your phone with an automatic text back within seconds, so a lead is held while you finish what you are doing. Every enquiry recorded so nothing gets lost between the truck and the office.

Quotes That Come Back Faster

A simple intake that collects scope, address, timeline and budget range up front, so the first conversation starts from something real and you stop quoting jobs that were never going to happen.

Reporting In Plain English

Calls, forms and quotes requested month over month, next to what we changed. If the number is not moving, we would rather you heard it from us early.

How We Start

The First Ninety Days

Slow, but not vague. Here is what happens and roughly when.

Measure Before Touching Anything

Where you rank across Edmonton today by trade, your Google Business Profile scored against the contractors above you, a technical crawl, and your enquiry path tested from outside. You keep the findings whether or not you continue.

Days 1–7

Fix The Profile And The Follow-Up

Profile rebuilt, review requests automated at sign-off, technical faults cleared, and call and form tracking switched on so from here we are counting quoted jobs rather than guessing.

Days 8–35

Build, Then Hold

Trade pages written properly, reviews arriving steadily, monthly reporting on enquiries and quotes. Map pack movement often shows by week six. Organic is a three month question, and anyone promising faster is guessing.

Common Questions

Your Questions, Answered

Our work all comes from referrals. Why change that

You would not change it — referrals are the best leads you will ever get. The problem is that you cannot turn them up when you need them. The point of this work is a second source you control, so a slow February is a decision rather than a surprise.

How long before I see something

Google Business Profile and review work often shows movement in four to six weeks. Organic rankings are a three month question, and competitive trades can take longer. If someone promises page one in thirty days, get their answer in writing about what happens if it does not work.

Is there a busy season problem

Yes, and it works in your favour if you start early. The work you do in the slow months is what fills the following season. Starting a programme in June to fix a quiet July rarely works — the ranking timeline does not bend.

What does it cost

It depends on how many trades you want to compete in and how much competition sits in each. The proposal comes back with scope, timeline and a number so you can compare it properly against anyone else you are talking to.

Do you lock me into a contract

No. You own the site, the profile, the content and the data, and you can take all of it with you.

Are you actually in Edmonton

Yes — head office at 10460 176 Street NW, and a second office in Calgary. The work is done here, not offshore.

The platform behind the work

Where Construction Leads Leak

Trades rarely have a lead problem in summer and rarely have anything else in February. Both of those are follow-up problems wearing different clothes.

01

The Six AM Quote Request

Site starts early and so do enquiries. A request that waits until the office opens has usually been sent to three other firms.

02

The Quote Sent Into Silence

Most quotes are sent once and never followed up. The job often goes to whoever asked a second time.

03

The February Gap

Referrals cannot be turned up when the phone stops. The work to fill winter has to happen in the autumn, automatically.

04

The Lead Source Nobody Tracks

Yard sign, truck, Google or a neighbour — without attribution you cannot tell which one is worth repeating.

What it does

What LinkBuffer Cloud Handles For A Contractor

Answers From The Truck

An AI assistant replies to calls and messages in seconds while you are on a roof, and hands over a briefed enquiry.

Follows Up Every Quote

Automatic, polite follow-up on a schedule until the client answers either way, so no quote dies of silence.

Works The Off-Season

Past customers get contacted ahead of the slow months rather than during them.

Records Where Work Comes From

Every enquiry keeps its source through to invoice.

It replaces a CRM, a missed-call service, an email tool, a quote-chasing spreadsheet and a review-request tool.

You own the data. Your customer list is yours, exported in full on request, with no notice period.

Plan your numbers

What Are Your Slow Replies Actually Costing?

Pick your industry, set your budget, and put in your own numbers. This runs on published Canadian ad costs and industry conversion benchmarks — the sources are listed underneath.

Planning estimate only · built from published benchmarks, not a forecast of your results

What you put into paid search in a month. Leave it where it is if you are only planning.

Your number, not ours. First job, first course of treatment, or lifetime value — whichever you actually manage against.

Of the people who enquire, how many buy. Set this to your own number.

Be honest about evenings and weekends. The 37% default is the share of 2,241 companies that managed it in the Harvard Business Review audit.

The gap, per month

How this is calculated. Clicks = budget ÷ cost per click. Cost per click is the midpoint of Google’s own low and high top-of-page bid estimates for that industry in Canada. Enquiries = clicks × the median Google Ads search conversion rate for that category in the WordStream 2026 benchmark study (13,474 campaigns, April 2025 – March 2026). Enquiries you do not answer quickly are modelled as one seventh as likely to convert, from the Harvard Business Review audit of 2,241 companies, which found firms replying within an hour were roughly seven times likelier to qualify a lead.

Where to be sceptical. That seven-times figure describes a salesperson picking up the phone. An automated first reply is not the same thing, so treat the right-hand column as the size of the opportunity, not a promise. Benchmarks are medians across many advertisers; your own account will differ. Nothing here is a quote.
