Straight answer
Cleaning splits into two businesses that look alike and behave nothing alike. Commercial contracts are researched, quoted and signed over weeks, and one contract is worth years of revenue. Residential and move-out cleans are searched and booked in an afternoon. Cleaning marketing means deciding which you actually want more of, and building for that.
In practice: a complete Google Business Profile, separate pages for commercial and residential, review generation, and a quote path that matches how each buyer actually decides.
Why it matters
None of these are exotic. We find them on almost every cleaning company we audit.

What we do
Pick the parts you need. Most companies start by separating commercial from residential.
Google Business Profile build-out, a page per service and per service area, citation cleanup and the on-page work that gets you into the top three across your catchment.
Office, medical, retail, industrial and post-construction cleaning, each written for the person who signs the contract rather than the person who books a one-off.
Deep cleans, move-in and move-out, recurring weekly and biweekly — the searches that convert same-week.
An automated request after each job through LinkBuffer Cloud, so review volume and recency keep climbing. Never gated — every customer gets asked.
A fast site with separate paths for commercial and residential, insurance and bonding visible, and a quote form that takes under a minute.
Search campaigns for move-out and commercial terms, with negatives that keep you out of cleaning-product, job-vacancy and franchise searches.

How it runs
Typical ranges — your business may move faster or slower depending on how much groundwork exists.
We review your profile, rankings by service and area, reviews, site speed and quote turnaround, then sequence the work by which side of the business you want to grow.
Week 1Profile rebuild, commercial and residential pages, site fixes, review automation switched on, tracking installed.
Weeks 2–6Local rankings usually start moving in two to three months. Residential enquiry volume changes first; commercial contracts follow a longer cycle because the buying process is longer.
Month 3 onwardPeople also ask
No. They are different buyers with different timelines and different proof requirements. The practical answer is separate sections of the site, separate pages, and usually separate ad campaigns — and if budget is tight, pick the one you actually want to grow.
Rank for the specific contract searches — "office cleaning", "medical facility cleaning", "post construction cleanup" — and make the credibility signals obvious: insurance, bonding, WCB, references, staff screening. Commercial buyers are de-risking, not bargain hunting.
They are among the easiest cleaning searches to rank for and they convert fast, because the tenant has a deadline. They are one-off by nature, so treat them as cash flow and a review source rather than the core of the business.
Offer recurring service explicitly at the point of the first clean, and say on the site that weekly and biweekly service exists with what it includes. Most companies bury it, so customers assume you only do one-offs.
Enough to be competitive with the companies ranking above you. For residential it is a direct ranking and conversion factor; for commercial it matters less than references and insurance.
For move-out and commercial terms, often yes. For general "cleaning services" traffic it tends to be expensive and low quality. Tight keyword targeting matters more here than budget.
Local rankings typically start shifting in two to three months. Residential enquiries follow within that window; commercial contracts take longer because the sales cycle does.
Yes. We work with businesses across Alberta from our two offices, and the local search work is the same in any town. Smaller markets are often easier to rank in.
