AEO — Answer Engine Optimisation
Being the source quoted when a search returns an answer instead of a list. In practice: pages that answer one question completely, correct structured data, and corroboration from sources that already have standing.
AEO, GEO & LLM Search — Alberta
AEO, GEO, LLM SEO, AI search optimisation. The industry has invented four labels for the same work in about eighteen months. Here is what the labels mean, what the demand actually is, and why we sell this as one service rather than four.

The Vocabulary, Decoded
Largely the same work under different names. Knowing which is which mostly protects you from being sold it four times.
Being the source quoted when a search returns an answer instead of a list. In practice: pages that answer one question completely, correct structured data, and corroboration from sources that already have standing.
Being named inside AI-generated answers. The mechanics are nearly identical to AEO — the term exists mostly because a different group of people coined it. In Canada it currently registers no measurable search volume at all.
The same thing again, named for the technology rather than the output. Useful as a label when you are talking to someone technical; not a separate budget line.
Free, No Obligation
Two business days. No deck.
We check what assistants currently answer when asked about your category in your city, whether you are named, who is instead, and what those businesses have that you do not. Then we tell you which of it is worth fixing — usually less than you expect.

The Work
Six things that make a business easier for a search engine and an assistant alike to name with confidence.
A page that answers a specific question completely and plainly is something either system can quote. A page covering eight services vaguely is quotable for none of them.
Services, location, hours, prices and FAQs marked up so a machine reads them without interpreting. Unglamorous, and increasingly the line between being understood and being skipped.
The same name, address, phone number and hours everywhere they appear. Contradictions make a business harder to state confidently, and a system that is unsure names someone else. We audit our own site for this and still find drift.
Assistants lean on what other sources say about you, not only what you say about yourself. A steady review habit and mentions in places with standing do more here than any on-page trick.
People ask assistants full questions rather than two-word searches. We build pages around how your customers phrase the problem, which is rarely how your industry names it.
No guaranteed citations, no submission to a secret index, no dashboard showing your "AI rank". If a competitor offers those three things, ask them to show you the mechanism.
The Honest Numbers
Monthly Canadian search volumes and cost per click, September 2026.
One caution worth publishing: "AEO" shows 2,900 searches a month, but at a cost per click of $0.58 — roughly a twentieth of every other term here. That is not buyers looking for this service; it is a stock ticker and a handful of unrelated meanings. Any agency quoting you that 2,900 figure either has not checked the cost per click or is hoping you will not.
How We Start
The same shape as any SEO engagement, because it is largely the same work.
What assistants currently say about your category in your city, where you rank in conventional search, your profile scored against the businesses being named, and a technical crawl. Yours to keep either way.
Days 1–7Structured data, profile consistency, the review habit, and the technical faults that make your pages hard to read. Most of this improves ordinary rankings at the same time, which is the point.
Days 8–35Pages written around the questions people actually ask, each answering one thing completely. Then monthly reporting on enquiries, not on an invented AI-rank metric.
Days 36–90Common Questions
No, and we will not sell them that way. They describe the same work. Combined Canadian search demand for all three is roughly 600 a month, which does not support three separate programmes — or three separate pages, which is why this site has one.
Mostly no, and we would rather say so plainly. The signals that get you named by an assistant are largely the signals that rank you in search. The genuinely different part is writing for full spoken questions rather than two-word searches, and accepting there is no ranking dashboard.
No, and nobody can. There is no submission process and no placement to buy. What we can do is make your business the clearest and best-corroborated answer to a specific question, then measure whether enquiries go up.
By asking the assistants the questions your customers ask, in your city, and recording whether you are named — a manual check repeated over time, not a metric we invented. The number that matters remains enquiries and bookings.
No. Fund the fundamentals first, because they carry both. If your Google Business Profile is a mess and your pages compete with each other, no amount of AI-oriented work will help.
We use it as a tool, and everything is written, edited and fact-checked by a person before it goes near your site. Pages that read as bulk-generated tend to perform badly in both search and assistant answers, which makes shortcuts here self-defeating.

Assistants still lean on the same signals search does. These pages cover that side of it, city by city.
